The pro-European alliance formed in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) pledges to create new workplaces, to renovate the housing sector and public buildings by taking out a loan of about €60 million from the EIB and, to repair the roads and to lay out tracks for bicyclists, securing also the crosswalks. These and other promises are contained in the alliance agreement that was signed on September 3, IPN reports.
The alliance also aims to organize the parking system in Chisinau, to rehabilitate the historical center and to set up new pedestrian areas – on Tricolorului St, in the central parks, near the Museum of History and the National Library, on Veronica Micle St and near the Central Square by reorganizing and relocating the bus and minibus terminal.
Among other goals are to continuously diminish street trading, unauthorized constructions, the number of kiosks and billboards and to develop the “First House” program by examining the possibility of partially covering the financing costs for budget-funded employees, young families and socially deprived groups.
In the towns, communes and villages that form part of the municipality of Chisinau, investments will be made in building water supply and sewerage systems and lighting systems, in repair works, etc. The stock of buses running in the suburban settlements will be fully renewed, the schedules will be improved and the minibuses will be maintained on routes as an alternative.
The municipal divisions and enterprises will be modernized. Volunteering programs for young people will be developed in public institutions and private companies so as to enable them to gain experience. The alliance partners will take part in jury commissions at contests to fill managerial posts and in the main auction commissions so as to ensure transparency and correctness.
The alliance in the CMC was formed by 26 local councilors who represent the Liberal Party (seven), the European People’s Party of Moldova (six), the Liberal Democratic Party (two) and the Democratic Party (one).
