PPPDA MP Iurie Reniță said the parliamentary commission on foreign policy and European integration’s decision to approve three candidates proposed for the post of ambassador of Moldova is illegal and he will challenge it. He noted that if you are not a party member or an affiliate of the ruling parties, you have no chance of becoming an ambassador in Moldova at present, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Iurie Reniță, who is a member of the commission, said the agenda of the September 2 meeting included only three subjects, among which were the negotiation of agreements and the military cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine, with the latter being excluded. He asked if there were some other subjects to be discussed as he found out that the current government aimed to have the three candidates approved by an illegal formula.
The MP noted the issue was included in the agenda illegally and in a coward way so that MPs of the commission and journalists could not be present physically there. There is no legal document that would regulate and would allow online voting. He warned that the issue can be examined online, but cannot be voted online.
His proposal was ignored, invoking the pandemic, but the three candidates were present at the meeting and they were thus out of danger of infection, not yet the MPs.
“The troika or saint trinity – Dodon, Diacov and Filip – brought under control the foreign policy and personnel policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” said Iurie Reniță. According to him, the ambassadors are chosen according to political and party criteria and this is against the law. An ambassador cannot be a party member and should represent strictly the state interests.
The parliamentary commission on foreign policy and European integration on September 2 approved three candidates for the post of ambassador of Moldova. These are Eugen Revenco, proposed for ambassador to France, Andrei Galbur, for ambassador to Sweden, and Andrei Popov, for ambassador to Austria.
The ambassadors are named and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Moldova, at the suggestion of the Government. The proposals concerning nominations are presented to the Government by the minister of foreign affairs and European integration after consulting the commission on foreign policy and European integration.
