Commission that will assess integrity of SCJ judges constituted

Parliament designated the members of the commission for the external assessment of the ethical and financial integrity of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and of candidates for the post of SCJ judge. The relevant draft decisions were adopted on Thursday, IPN reports.

In accordance with the procedure, the parliamentary group of the Party of Action and Solidarity proposed two candidates: Iurie Gațcan and Andrei Bivol. The group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists fielded Lilian Enciu. Lavly Perling, Maria Giuliana Civinini and Scott Bales were selected at a contest on behalf of the development partners.

The assessment commission consists of six members. Three of the members, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, are proposed by the parliamentary groups taking into account the proportional representation of the majority and the parliamentary opposition, while another three members are appointed at the suggestion of the development partners.

The draft decisions on the designation of members of the commission for the external assessment of the ethical and financial integrity of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and of candidates for the post of SCJ judge take effect on the adoption day.
