Parliament constituted a commission of inquiry into the sale of property belonging to trade unions, based on an initiative of a group of PAS and PPPDA MPs, IPN reports.
“After the dissolution of the USSR, the Republic of Moldova come into impressive inheritance estimated at over US$200 million. This huge property inherited from the Soviet trade union organization included buildings, tourist resorts, sanatoriums, sports facilities, camping areas and camps. The journalistic investigations presenting cases of fraudulent management of the property of trade unions of the Republic of Moldova, through the agency of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova, show that the leaders of these weren’t concerned about the protection of the rights of employees, including the property ones,” says the informative note to the legislative proposal.
The commission of inquiry consists of nine members who represent different parliamentary groups. It is headed by Lilian Carp, chairman of the PAS group of the ACUM Bloc, who is assisted by deputy head Angel Agache, of the Democratic Party, and secretary Vitalii Evtodiev, of the Party of Socialists.
The commission will engage the responsible institutions in its work, will question all those involved and will present a report to Parliament within 90 days.
