Commission of inquiry into prosecutor’s report to be set up later
The bill on the creation of a commission of inquiry into the report rendered by the prosecutor general last week was sent to the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities in order to ensure the commission’s representation, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Liberal MP Mihai Ghimpu said the approval of this bill by the legal commission does not mean that there can be opened any case. The Liberal parliamentary group said it was not ready to delegate members to work on this commission and thus asked that the bill be remitted to the legal commission.
Democratic lawmaker Alexandru Stoianoglo said he does not see the necessity of creating such commissions. Moreover, it would be unconstitutional as the prosecutor general obeys the law and should not obey a commission.
“As we said last week, we are in favor of setting up a commission that would examine the most important cases of the Prosecutor General’s Office for the last five years,” stated the head of the Liberal-Democratic group Valeriu Strelet.
The Communists maintained that Valeriu Zubko’s report should be analyzed as they consider that the law was violated.
The bill will be examined in a sitting next week.
