Commission of inquiry into casino case to work for another month

The commission of enquiry into the circumstances of passing a law on casinos, whereby damage of over 5.6 million lei was caused to the state budget, will work for 30 days more. The decision was taken by Parliament in its last sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. The proposal to extend the work period of the commission was made by the Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu. He argued the given commission has held several meetings, but cannot cope with the heavy workload within the set period. The commission of inquiry consists of nine members representing the four parliamentary groups. It was created on April 15 and was to present its report by May 15. The proposal to constitute the commission was put forward by the Communist lawmakers. They said that last July, by promulgating an amendment to a law, whereby the license tax for a gaming table was decreased from 360,000 lei to 180,000 lei, the then Acting President Mihai Ghimpu caused damage to the budget assessed at over 5.6 million lei.
