The Commission for Exceptional Situations proposed that the state of emergency should be extended by another 45 days, as from June 24. The proposal was approved in the Commission’s Tuesday meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

According to the report, the state of emergency needs to be extended due to the persistent risks related to the energy security of the Republic of Moldova, the impact on the transport sector, the border security and the management of the flow of refugees. The Commission for Exceptional Situations will be able to intervene promptly if more decisions need to be made in addition to the measures taken under the existing legal framework to provide all the consumers with energy resources and to maintain the country’s energy security.

In accordance with the Commission for Exceptional Situations’ ordinance, the Ministry of Home Affairs will draft and present to the Government a decision concerning the request to Moldova’s Parliament to extend the state of emergency and will formulate the relevant draft Parliament decision.
