The legislative body will hear the report of the special commission for the election of the head of state on November 18. The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet has told Info-Prim Neo that the law allows postponing the first round of the ordinary presidential elections when there are no candidates.
“The commission will describe the situation and render a report on the work done in Parliament. The legislative body is to put off the first round of the ordinary elections,” said Valeriu Strelet.
He also said that after the postponement, if the first round of voting fails, the elections are rerun within 30 days of the first round.
No presidential candidate has been registered by the November 14 deadline. The presidential elections were to take place on November 18.
