Commemorative plaque to Mihai Dolgan unveiled

A commemorative plaque to artist, composer and founder of the legendary band “Noroc” Mihai Dolgan has been unveiled today on the facade of the building where he lived during 30 years. The plaque was made by sculptor Valerian Doikov, Info-Prim Neo reports. “This plaque is not only a homage paid to the great artist Mihai Dolgan. It is a symbol for us that makes us respect the artist's work. Mihai Dolgan's merit is indisputable, while his value is inestimable,” said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. The unveiling of the plaque coincided with the birthday of Mihai Dolgan's wife Lidia Botezatu and the celebration of 22 years of artistic career of their son Radu Dolgan. “Mihai loved autumn very much. This coincidence is significant. It shows that the music of “Noroc” continues to live,” said the composer's wife. “Mihai Dolgan left us a huge work. He was as a teacher for the artists. He changed the destiny of many of us. I'm sure Mihai Dolgan's name will be eternal,” said singer Ion Suruceanu. The event was attended by officials of the Chisinau City Hall, close friends, artists and people of culture. Mihai Dolgan died on March 16, 2008 from pancreatic cancer. “An Artist Singing”, “Spring”, “Why Do the Guitars Cry?” are only some of his hits that are popular with several generations.
