“Come on, Moldova” project launched in Chisinau

Volunteers, members of youth organizations of political parties, kindergarten children and ordinary people will take part in the first cleanup campaign “Come on, Moldova” on March 19. Project coordinator Daniela Cibotari has told Info-Prim Neo that cleaning works will be carried out in Valea Trandafirilor Park in Chisinau’s Botanica District during four hours. “Today’s cleanup is a pilot campaign aimed at identifying the unforeseen difficulties so as to thoroughly prepare for the April 16 general cleanup,” said Daniela Cibotari. She also said that over 50 children from two Chisinau kindergartens aged between four and six will help remove the waste from Valea Trandafirilor Park. “They will teach us to be more responsible,” said Daniela Cibotari, adding that workers of the municipal sanitation division will also be engaged in the cleanup. A general cleanup campaign themed “Let’s Clean the Country during One Day” will be held as part of the ecological project “Hai Moldova” on April 16. The organizers of the event project that over 10,000 tonnes of garbage will be collected with the help of the people on April 16. For the first time, such a type of project was launched in Estonia in 2008. Similar projects were later implemented in Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Finland, Portugal, Italy, India, Ukraine, Romania, Brazil, and Serbia.
