Combination of forces by Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine is a good strategy, U.S. official

The Moldova-U.S. cooperation and the regional approach to ensuring security and stability were discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and member of the United State House of Representatives Judge Ted in a meeting. Pavel Filip welcomed the inclusion of the draft resolution on the stimulation of the bilateral relations and the U.S. support for Moldova’s territorial integrity in the agenda of the United States Congress, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

According to the Premier, the U.S. plays an important role in the “5+2” format of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks. Pavel Filip expressed his gratitude for the contribution made by the Atlantic Council and the U.S. side to organizing the first high-level international conference “Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and current security challenges” that was held in Chisinau on March 2.

For his part, Judge Ted said the combination of forces by the three states that face similar security challenges is a very good strategy for overcoming these and for ensuring democratic transformations. The U.S. will continue to support the territorial integrity of these states and will offer political and financial assistance in ensuring stability in the region.

Pavel Filip and Judge Ted Poe underlined the necessity of further ensuring permanent communication so as to stimulate the bilateral strategic dialogue.
