The collection of money for organizing New Year celebrations in education institutions and for presents is not allowed. An order to this effect was made by the Chisinau General Division of Excitation, Youth and Sport, IPN reports.

In the December 12 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Valentina Cujba, who heads the Division on an interim basis, said they received dozens of letters from parents who are dissatisfied that they cannot collect money for inviting a Santa Clause from outside the institution or for giving presents to children, for example. It is somehow strange that the parents complain when they are asked to give money for staging particular festivities, but disagree when an order to ban such a practice is banned.

In connection with the reported cases of flu and infection, the New Year performances in nurseries and schools will be held according to a special program so as to avoid the gathering of a large number of children in one place.

The winter vacation begins on December 24.
