The Chisinau Emergency Medicine Institute reported the first cases of hypothermia in the current cold season. A man in his 60s was found dead on Pushkin St, at the intersection with Mitropolit Varlaam St, in the morning of October 27.
The Institute’s spokesman Petru Cravet has told IPN that no visible signs of death were detected on the man’s body. The medical examiners are to find out the exact cause of death. Allegedly, the man, who does not have a permanent place of stay, died from hypothermia.
In another case, a woman aged 67 from Hancesti district was found in a state of hypothermia in a wood in Posta Veche quarter of Chisinau. She was given first aid and was then taken to the hospital for examinations.
Also, a vagrant found shelter in the basement of a lyceum situated on Alecu Russo St in Chisinau, where a fire broke out on October 26. It is presumed that the fire was caused by the man, who wanted to warm himself up. Consequently, the man aged 44 suffered severe burns on 60% of the body. He was admitted to the National Burns Center.
