Vitalie Micov was appointed head of the General Staff and commander of the National Army, under a presidential decree issued Friday.
Colonel Vitalie Micov previously held the position of military attache to the United States, and also senior military commander of the Moldovan contingent of peacekeepers in the Security Zone.
The position of head of the General Staff and commander of the National Army remained vacant after the expiration of the contract with Eduard Ohladciuc, appointed in October 2021.
