CoE to assist full accomplishment of Anti-Corruption Strategy
The Council of Europe (CoE) will continue to offer expert examination for a series of draft laws that address political parties, their financing, election campaigns, conflict of interests, incompatibilities and immunities, said Cornel Virgiliu Calinescu, anticorruption expert in MOLICO-Moldova project, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Calinescu says the project aims at ensuring full implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy. Particular attention will be paid to training reporters in investigative journalism, including a guidebook on anticorruption investigations, as well as to promotion of professional ethics in this kind of journalism.
Prosecutors and investigators will be also trained to improve skills in fighting high-level corruption.
Joseph Hopkinson, MOLICO-Moldova’s expert in countering money laundering, said that the project held an international roundtable which discussed the final version of a draft law in this field that is to be submitted to Parliament for consideration soon. At the same time, the authorities have been assisted in drawing up a national strategy and a detailed action plan for implementing this law into practice.
The MOLICO-Moldova project is a follow-up of the PACO project. The three-year, EUR 3.4 mln project was launched in December 2006.
