The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg will visit Moldova on a contact mission on 8-9 May. The Commissioner will meet the highest authorities, in particular the Chairman of the Parliament Marian Lupu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Stratan, the Minister of Justice Vitalie Pirlog, the Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc, the Minister of Reintegration Vasilii Sova and the Minister of Education and Youth Victor Tvircun. The European official will also hold meetings with representatives of civil society. Discussions will focus on the human rights situation, with a view to evaluating both positive developments and recent shortcomings.
