The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a code yellow warning of wind intensification for Friday, December 13, between 00:00 and 14:00. North-westerly gusts of up to 15-18 meters per second are forecast throughout the country, IPN reports.
Meteorologists say the weather will gradually improve, but will remain generally cloudy. On Friday night it will fall sleet, and on Friday morning on the roads there will be ice and sleet on the roads. Night temperatures will range between -2 and +3 degrees Celsius, day temperatures - between 0 and +5°C.
The National Police advises citizens to take precautionary measures to prevent incidents caused by strong winds: "Park your cars in safe places, away from trees, pylons or unstable structures that may be toppled. Limit outdoor outings, especially with children, and avoid parks or other areas at risk. Remove unsecured items from balconies or yards, such as furniture, pots or decorations."
Drivers are urged to drive carefully and adapt their speed to winter weather conditions. "Watch out for possible obstacles on the road, fallen branches or billboards," advises the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
In at-risk situations and in emergencies, citizens are encouraged by law enforcement officers to immediately contact the emergency services on 112.
