The State Weather Service has issued a code orange heatwave alert covering most of Moldova, except for the northern districts, where the alert levek is a notch lower at yellow. Highs are expected to rise to 37°C and remain so until next Wednesday.

Specifically, during August 17-21, highs in the northern part will range from 33°C to 35°C, and around 37°C in the rest of Moldova.

Meteorologists expect showers overnight into Sunday. Otherwise, there will be no rainfall during this period. Light to moderate winds will blow mainly from the south.

Meanwhile, another yellow-code alert is in place during August 17-23, for risk of wildfires.
