The national public broadcasters will be able to have by up to 12 hours of retransmitted products a day, while the regional ones by up to ten hours a day. This is by two hours fewer than the Code of Audiovisual Media Services provides at present. A bill to amend the Code was passed by Parliament after the first reading on October 18, IPN reports.

As to other amendments, the chairman of the Parliament’s commission on culture, education, research, sport and the media Vladimir Hotineanu said the budget of the national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova will consist of subsidies from the state budget and own revenues. The subsidies will be agreed annually by the state budget law. These will be equal to the subsidies for the previous year indexed by the consumer price index for the last budgetary year.

The Code of Audiovisual Media Services was adopted by Parliament on July 26 this year and is to take effect at the start of next year.
