More than 150 persons came together on April 20 to take part in a cleanup event on the Byk River in Chisinau. They included employees of Coca-Cola Hellenic Moldova and members of their families as well as workers of the Green Areas Managing Association.
Diana Petrea, PR and communication specialist of Coca-Cola Hellenic Moldova, has told IPN that the water resources are widely used by Coca-Cola and the company knows their purpose and price better than anyone. Moreover, the company’s employees aim to ‘adopt’ a river of which to take care. Thus, Coca-Cola Hellenic Moldova joined a cleanup project initiated by the Green Areas Managing Association.
The company’s volunteers chose to ‘adopt’ the portion of the Byk between the Botanical Garden Domus Market as they were told that this section is in the worst state. “We want to do something good and to see the result of our work. We were told that the situation here is the worst and we will not dare to become involved. But we mobilized and helped clean the river’s banks,” said Diana Petrea.
The truck provided by the Green Areas Managing Association was half loaded during only 15 minutes. The volunteers collected bottles, plastic packing and different damaged objects.
Those who came accompanied by their children said they want to educate the civic spirit in the young generation and to teach them to protect nature.
