Cobileanski premieres his movie in Chisinau

The film “At the low limit of the sky” directed by Igor Cobileanski, which was awarded at a number of international festivals,” was presented in Moldova at a movie theater in Chisinau on December 4, IPN reports.

Moldovan film director Igor Cobileanski told a news conference that the shooting lasted for a month, but the montage took over two years and a half. The scrip was written by Corneliu Porumboiu and tells the story of Viorel, a small drug trafficker who lives in an isolated town in Moldova. The main parts are played by actors Igor Babiac, Sergiu Voloc and Ela Ionescu, while the filming took place in Orhei.

“Initially, the cast was to include only Moldovan actors, but after a number of searches, there was brought actress Ela Ionescu from Bucharest,” said the director.

The film was made at a cost of about €1.2 million. A part of the money was lent by the National Cinematography Center of Romania. The director said he didn’t ask for financial support from the Moldovan government, but during the shooting he received technical assistance. According to Igor Cobileanski, the only problem they encountered when filming was the sun as they needed cloudy weather.

The film will be shown in Chisinau for a week. Afterward, it will be decided whether to extend the period or not.

“At the low limit of the sky” had its world premiere this summer, in the East of the West Competition of the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary. The movie was awarded at the International Film Festival in Warsaw and at the International Film Festival “Molodist” in Kiev.
