The Independent Journalism Centre and Association of Independent Press announce the launch, within the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections – Coalition 2007, of the project for monitoring the way the election campaign for general local elections will be covered by the main radio stations/TV channels and newspapers in Moldova. The project is implemented in partnership with the Chisinau-based Institute of Marketing and Survey IMAS Inc. The monitoring period is from April 10 to June 17. The results will be made public by means of bimonthly reports, in the first month of the monitoring, and then weekly reports will be published. The reports will also be posted on the webpage dedicated to the general local elections www.alegeri.md/2007, managed by the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT, as part of the Coalition 2007. The project is funded by the Eurasia Foundation, with the resources of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and United Nations Agency for International Development (USAID), National Fund for Democracy, the USA and OSCE Mission to Moldova. The general local elections will be held on June 3, 2007.
