The project “Building of installations for the definitive processing of mud through pyrolysis at the Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Station” will be co-financed by the National Ecological Fund. The pyrolysis technology consists in the diminution of the quantity of mud, IPN reports.
The Chisinau City Hall said this method will enable to reduce the quantity of mud that is accumulated daily in the capital city from 100 tonnes to only 10 tonnes and this quantity could be turned to dust that is inoffensive and can be later used as fertilizer for soil.
According to specialists, the only long-term solution to the problem of unpleasant smell in Chisinau is to set up pyrolysis installations at the Wastewater Treatment Station.
This way, the National Ecological Fund will contribute 60% of the sum needed to implement the project.
When the modernization process at the Wastewater Treatment Station is over, the sewerage services will be extended to cover the districts of Strășeni sand Ialoveni.
