CNTM selects young people for internship in Moldovan Parliament

The National Youth Council of Moldova (CNTM) has announced the launch of a contest to select 12 young people for a two-month internship in the country’s Parliament. The project is implemented for the second year in a row, IPN reports.

CNTM chairman Eduard Mihalas told a news conference on March 26 that it is a project that promotes an active attitude when the young people show an example of involvement. In 2013, which was declared the European Year of Citizens, the involvement of the young people would be a useful example of civic involvement.

Ten young people out of 80 applicants were chosen last year for internship in the legislative body. According to the CNTM secretary general Alexandru Petrov, it is a project that hasn’t been promoted earlier in Moldova. ”The idea was borrowed from our colleagues from Ukraine,” he stated.

During eight weeks, the selected young people will take part in the plenary sittings of Parliament and in the meetings of the standing commissions. They can submit proposals and make comments on the debated bills.

The application form is available on the National Youth Council’s website cntm.md. The deadline for applications is April 1, 2013. The applications can be sent to the email address alexandru.dubasaru@cntm.com. The winners will be selected by a commission composed of representatives of Parliament and the CNTM.

The National Youth Council’s initiative appeared in the context of the European Year of Citizens. The news conference was supported by the German foundation Hanns Seidel within the project “European integration as a national idea with possibility of strengthening Moldovan society”.
