The costs associated with the medical services provided for Ukrainian refugees will be covered by the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) that signed new agreements of cooperation with UNICEF, IOM and UNFPA, IPN reports.
The Ukrainian refugees who benefit from temporary protection in Moldova have free access to emergency medical assistance, primary medical assistance and medical checkups for public health reasons. The partnership agreement between UNICEF and CNAM provides for the reimbursement of costs for medical services offered to children under 18. Almost 21 million lei was earmarked for providing medical assistance in 2023 to Ukrainian children who benefit from temporary protection.
Based on the agreement with IOM, there will be covered the costs associated with dialysis services offered in ambulatory and stationary conditions by providers that are part of the mandatory health insurance system. The estimated budget is of about US$260,000.
Under the partnership agreement with UNFPA, the costs for emergency hospital medical services intended for women aged between 18 and 55 will be covered. Over 4.363 million lei is necessary for the purpose in 2023.
In January, the Government approved a draft decision providing that temporary one-year protection for Ukrainian refugees will be introduced in the Republic of Moldova. The given mechanism took effect on March 1.
