CMC will allot 600,000 lei to clear trees near education institutions
The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) plans to allocate about 600,000 lei for clearing the trees growing near the municipal education establishments at one of its next meetings.
In a draft decision, local councillors propose allocating 120,000 lei to the education establishments in Botanica district, 100,000 lei - in Buiucani district, 90,000 lei – in Centru district, 80,000 lei – in Ciocana district and 120,000 in Rascani district.
According to Tatiana Tverdohleb, head of the General Education, Science and Youth Division, the trees growing near the education establishments are 50-80 years old and can fall down anytime, endangering thus the life of the students and school personnel. The high schools “D.Alighieri, “Rambam”, “D. Cantemir”, “Minerva” were given as example.
The mentioned decision was drafted following a request from the Division and from the Green Spaces Administration Association to allocate financial resources for the purpose because none of the two municipal agencies has money to clear the trees that are ready to fall.
Officials of the City Hall say that the issue was brought up more than three years ago, but the previous municipal authorities did not take measures to solve the problem.
