The schools and kindergartens in the municipality of Chisinau reopen on September 1, as the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) decided one day before the start of the new school year following debates that lasted for several hours, IPN reports.
A part of the councilors expressed their dissatisfaction as, according to them, the central public authorities shift the responsibility onto the CMC, allowing the local councilors to take the decision. Some of the councilors demanded that the responsibility should be assumed by mayor general of Chisinau municipality Ion Ceban.
After several hours of contradictory discussions and mutual accusations, the councilors voted to resume the education process, with a number of amendments.
One of the amendments provides that the execution of the decision is the responsibility of deputy mayor in charge of the education sector Angela Kutasevici and the General Education, Youth and Sport Division. Another amendment stipulates that the execution of the decision will be controlled by the mayor general. Under the third amendments, the Education Division will coordinate the work program of early education institutions.
