Municipal councillors could request introducing on the agenda of Thursday’s meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) the issues related to the election of Deputy Mayors and Chairman of the Council. Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party Corina Fusu told Info-Prim Neo that the party leaders negotiated at the end of last week. She said that the same candidates are to be proposed both for the positions of Deputy Mayors and CMC chairman. Fusu has also stated that these two issues will be introduced on the agenda when opening the meeting, if all the councillors of the four parties who signed for creating a majority coalition are present. CMC was supposed to elect its chairman and the deputy mayors on August 2, but Mihai Ghimpu withdrew his candidacy for the chairman’s seat, and Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca suspended the procedure of submitting candidacies for the function of deputy mayors after the candidate fielded by the Liberal Party didn’t get the required number of votes.
