The Chisinau Municipal Council didn’t support again the appointment of ex-minister of justice Fadei Nagacevschi as deputy mayor of Chisnau. Only 24 municipal councilors voted in favor of mayor Ion Ceban’s proposal, IPN reports.
The proposal was backed by the Socialist, Communist and Democratic councilors. Some of the councilors of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” abstained from voting or voted against, while the Liberal councilors voted against.
Under the law on the local public administration, the deputy mayors are elected by the Chisinau Municipal Council by a majority of votes, at the suggestion of the mayor. If the draft decision is excluded from the agenda during two consecutive meetings or does not garner the necessary number of votes, the mayor can name the deputy mayor by an order that is submitted to the Council for familiarization.
