CMC bans use of toponym Chisinau in name “Radio Chisinau”. Reaction of station

The administration and employees of the radio station “Radio Chisinau” expressed their regret and profound disappointment with the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council, which banned using the toponym Chisinau in the name of the station. In a press release, employees of the radio station warn that “Radio Chisinau” during ten years of broadcasting has been a loyal and honest partner of all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and of the central and local authorities engaged in the process of modernizing the country and integrating this into the European Union, IPN reports.

According to the employees of “Radio Chisinau”, they have the greatest respect for the listeners of their radio station, who should be informed only with real and comprehensive news items. They contacted the local authorities and asked for explanations and for the final administrative document from the Municipal Council, which they haven’t yet received.

The employees note that the lack of reaction on the part of the City Hall to their requests makes them believe that the vote of the municipal councilors who rejected the draft decision is due to the fact that these do not know what a radio station does and to a possible confusion as to a company that sells goods under the brand Chisinau and a company that operates a radio station that broadcasts information, cultural and recreational programs.

They assure their listeners that the administration of the company that operates the frequencies of the radio station will be making effort and will be taking measures to safeguard this brand and this radio station that is loved by them. “Regardless of the result of approaches and of the name we will bear in the future, the quality of our programs will not be affected and the broadcasting of our station will not be interrupted, while our messages will remain the same in the future, of a station of Radio Romania!” runs the press release of Radio Chisinau.

Radio Chisinau, which is a component part of Radio Romania, started work on December 1, 2011, being the legal successor of the first regional radio station of Radio Romania that was opened in Chisinau in 1939 – Radio Bessarabia.
