CMC appoints three deputy mayors
The Chisinau Municipal Council has elected today three new deputy mayors.
Mihai Furtuna, fielded by Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Party, was backed by the vote of 28. Furtuna has been an AMN councillor up to this point.
Social-Liberal Vlad Cotet, nominated by the Liberal-Democrat group, was voted by 27 councillors.
Igor Lupulciuc, whose candidacy was put forward by the Social-Democrats, garnered 27 votes. Lupulciuc served as Megadat Company’s director and is now sales manager at “Timpul de Dimineata” daily.
The deputy mayors have been finally elected thanks to the fact that Eduard Musuc’s Social-Democrat faction joined the majority coalition.
The Communists didn’t support any of the nominees. The Christian-Democrats left the CMC sitting at its very beginning, arguing that some of the group’s members had nowhere to sit.
Alexandru Corduneanu, the leader of the Christian-Democrats in the Council, told Info-Prim Neo that the 3-member PPCD faction was leaving the majority coalition, considering that by not asking its advice about the Social-Democrats joining the coalition, the other coalition parties kicked the PPCD out of it.
