CMC allots 5m lei to build aqueduct and repair road in Tantareni
The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Thursday decided to allocate 5 million lei for constructing the aqueduct and repairing the road in Tantareni village of Anenii Noi district, where the waste from Chisinau is transported.
4.2 million lei will go to restore the drinking water system, while 800,000 lei to repair the road, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said that such a decision had to be approved immediately as the local council in Tantareni warned that the residents will block again access to the village and will not allow taking the garbage to the local dump if the works do not start by June 10.
The money will be allotted to the Capital Constructions Division from the budget funds planned for such purposes.
At the start of the year, the villagers several times hindered the waste trucks from going to the garbage dump, being dissatisfied that all the waste from Chisinau is transported to the dump in their village. The residents said they get sick owing to the polluted air and infected water. They demanded building an aqueduct and free medical examination. After examined, some of them benefited from treatment in Chisinau hospitals.
The garbage dump in Tantareni can be used until December 31, 2010 and will be then closed.
