Clinical protocols for primary health care ready for use
The family doctors in Moldova will receive sets of clinical protocols designed to standardize the treatment of different diseases all over the county, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The clinical protocols for primary health care were worked out by specialists of the Ministry of Health within the project “Support to the Health Reform. Strengthening Primary Medical Assistance in Moldova”. Thirty of the planned 40 protocols are ready. Twenty of them were distributed to districts. Every protocol includes by 2,300 sets that contain treatment methods and information about the most frequent diseases.
“The implementation of clinical protocols in the primary health care system will lead to the improvement of the quality of the services provided by family doctors. We hope the protocols will become an important element of the modern practices as they help the doctors diagnose and treat a disease quickly,” Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu told a news conference on Thursday.
Present at the news conference, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schubel said the Moldovan health sector remains one of the major priorities of the European Union. According to the ambassador, the project to work out clinical protocols forms part of a larger project that has a budget of over 46 million euros. “12 million euros was already donated to Moldova. The second part will be transferred in the near future. This project is intended to support the family doctors in their work,” Schubel said.
“For us, it was important to understand that it is not enough to look for solutions to a problem in foreign resources. These protocols were drawn up by Moldovan specialists with the help of foreign experts because the local aspect is very important,” said the director of the project Lars Kyburg.
Training seminars for family doctors on the use of clinical protocols will be held as part of the project. The protocols are in Romanian and Russian and will be distributed to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia as well.
The project “Support to the Health Reform. Strengthening Primary Medical Assistance in Moldova” will be implemented during two years. It has a budget of 1.2 million euros.
