Climenco ready to back a liberal party conditionally

The social-political movement “Ravnopravie” will not participate in the early elections separately, the organization’s leader Valeri Climenco said on July 7, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference, Climenco stated that two weeks before the elections “Ravnopravie” will announce the party that it will support on July 29. He did not rule out that the party they will back might be liberal. But this party should have a government program that will envision the introduction of Russian as the second official language, will ensure the proportional representation of the interests of the national minorities in the state bodies, will take steps to fairly solve the Transnistrian dispute and will make the economic and cultural cooperation with Russia a priority. The leader of “Ravnopravie” said that they made a mistake when they decided to run in the April 5 elections under the list of the Centrist Union of Moldova. In another development, Climenco criticized the “Lupu” project, saying it will be of no use to Moldova. According to him, Marian Lupu, who is a candidate on the list of the Democrat Party, is supported, including financially, by the U.S. Embassy in Moldova and the OSCE Mission “so that he removed the present government from power”.
