In the municipality of Chisinau, improvised or unauthorized fences and anti-parking devices placed in public spaces were demolished. The worn-out metal elements from playgrounds in courtyards of residential buildings were also taken away. The activities are part of the cleanup campaign that daily involves hundreds of volunteers, employees of district head’s offices and municipal services, IPN reports.
The head of the General Housing and Amenities Division Ion Burdiumov said that about 400 workers are daily engaged in manual works to clean public spaces. From 7 to 35 units of transport are available for the disposal of vegetative waste. Construction waste, dry leaves and branches are also taken away. Last week, 219 garbage trucks were collected.
Also, mechanized cleaning of the main and secondary arteries and of sidewalks was carried out with the help of Hako machines and vacuum sweepers attached to tractors. In these works, 20 units of transport were involved daily, while on Sundays – 10 units. Also, the municipal housing sector enterprises last week washed the sidewalks and public transport stations under their management.
Employees of Botanica and Centru district head’s offices were involved in cleanup activities on Ioan Vodă Viteazul Street and in “Valea Trandafirilor” Park, being helped by over 150 volunteers of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Theoretical High School “Children’s Academy” and the placement center “Regina Pacis”. Also, the waste in the area close to the natural reserve adjacent to Nicolae Testemitanu and Tudor Strișcă streets was collected in a responsible and organized way.
Students of the Center of Excellence in Light Industry, employees of the Buiucani district head’s office and the municipal enterprise “Green Spaces Management Association” staged a new joint cleanup event under the slogan “We are for a clean forest”. They cleaned an area of “Butoiaș” forest-park close to Nicolae Costin, Paris and Onisifor Ghibu streets. An area of “Dumitru Râșcanu Dumitru” Park, in the perimeter of the streets Vadul lui Vodă and Mihail Sadoveanu, was also cleaned.
The cleanup effort involved volunteers of the sports clubs “Kombat” and “FightClub Garuda”, supported by parents.
The cleanup campaign will last until May 3.
