People must have access to safe water and improved sanitation services and be informed about effective waste management, said Aurelia Bahnaru, president of the resource center e-Circular, during an IPN livescast discussing the EU4Moldova: Local Communities Program.

Clean Water for All is one of the many projects implemented under the Program. Over 19,000 people in the villages of Pănășești, Lozova, Zubrești and Sireți in Strășeni district enjoyed improved water supply services as a result.

“Clean Water for All is a project that responds to local needs. The project is not only about extending water supply and sewer services and improving access for vulnerable groups, but also about raising public awareness about the importance of sanitation, while combating myths about water and waste. There are still people who believe they don’t generate any waste. On infrastructure, we work side by side with the mayor’s offices. We have local consultants in each community, who know the local subtleties best. Another aspect we deal with is prevention. We cannot talk about access to quality water if people do not know the rules of using water correctly or the rules of efficient waste management”, said Aurelia Bahnaru.

The resource center e-Circular will conduct awareness raising campaigns in the 4 beneficiary localities to promote efficient water and waste management.

Aurelia Bahnaru explained that thanks to the Clean Water for All project, modern filters will be installed in the schools and kindergartens of the selected villages, so that the children have access to quality water. Moreover, vulnerable households in the four localities will be connected to water and sewage systems.
