The women, men, young people and national minorities are urged to cast their ballots on November 30 and to choose the correct path for the country – the European course. Civil society urges the people to give one more chance to the pro-European parties so that they could complete the initiated reforms.
Ecaterina Mardarovici, executive director of the Women’s Political Club “50x50”, told a news conference at IPN that women represent 52% of the electorate and they should thus decide by themselves their fate and should choose the European development course for Moldova.
Doru Curosu, head of the National Youth Center of Moldova said the current government was created owing to the young people, who represent 36% of the electorate. The government didn’t keep its word and didn’t deliver a number of promises, but these four years were a trial period. The next four years will no longer be a trial period and civil society will seek explanations for any action of the government.
Director of the Journalistic Investigations Center Cornelia Cozonac stated that during the last four years Moldova obtained freedom of the press and of expression and these accomplishments should be maintained, while the people should vote consciously. She called on the people not to allow others to decide their fate on November 30 and to vote for the pro-European parties so as to give them the chance to continue the launched reforms.
Director of the Resource Center for Human Rights Sergiu Ostaf noted that civil society wants to be heard by all the categories of people and called on the Russian speakers to vote for Europe as Moldova needs to continue the reformation. There are parties that want totalitarian regimes to be installed in our country. The people should not allow something like this. The Moldovan parties that recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia are not Democratic and will not bring about positive changes if they come to power.
Executive director of the Institute of Public Policy Arcadie Barbarosie also called on the minorities speaking Russian, reminding about the implemented infrastructure projects and underlining the necessity of continuing them. Only the path to the EU is a development model for the country.
Secretary general of the National NGO Council Antonita Fonari said civil society will work in opposition to the government and will always make effort to make it better. Moldova needs fair justice, well-paid jobs and social benefits and these can be guaranteed by the European course. Therefore, civil society joined the Internet campaign “Do a good thing for the country and choose Europe on November 30”.
