Civil society requires transparency in CNA head election
A group of representatives of civil society requested the Parliament's Legal Commission to ensure the transparency of the examination of candidates for the seat of director of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), Info-Prim Neo reports.
The civil society representatives addressed a call to the commission for the CV of each candidate to the published on the Parliament’s webpage, as well as the methodology and criteria for the selection of candidates. Civil society also wants sufficient time to be reserved for debates and for informing society about the date and place of the commission’s meeting and about the purpose and results of each meeting.
Among the recommended conditions for ensuring additional transparency is the participation of at least one representative of civil society (from specialized organizations) in the works of the commission as an observer with the right to ask candidates questions.
The signers of the petition remind the Parliament about the important role the civil society organizations had, have and will have in the process of building democracy and human rights in Moldova.
The call is signed by Sergiu Ostaf from the Human Rights Resource Center (CReDO), Cornelia Cozonac of the Investigative Journalism Center, Vanu Jereghi of the Human Rights Institute (IDOM), Nadejda Hriptievschi of the Center for Legal Resources (CRJM) and Vitalie Zama of the Lawyers for Human Rights.
