Representatives of civil society staged a protest in front of the Parliament Building, under the theme “We will no longer accept being taken by skis!”. The protesters referred to Marian Lupu’s obscene gesture in Parliament, saying the lawmakers’ task is another one - to adopt laws to improve the situation in the country, IPN reports.
“This message creates associations with some events that took place in Parliament. We hope those associations are not the only ones of which Parliament is capable. We hope it is also able to invest the Government, not only to make gestures that generate those associations,” said the executive director of the Resource Center for Human Rights Sergiu Ostaf.
The protesters put forward a number of demands to Parliament, saying it is inadmissible to promote discredited persons or persons without integrity to key posts. They demanded naming persons who meet the minimum integrity, professionalism and experience requirements as Prime Minister and ministers and creating a functional majority coalition as they will no longer tolerate ‘disposable’ coalitions.
Antonita Fonari, secretary general of the NGO Council and vice president of the National Participation Council, said the protesters will take by a pair of skis to each of the parliamentary groups.
