The representative of civil society Sergei Ciobanu said that he will join the protest that war veterans intend to mount on September 11 in the Great National Assembly Square. At a news conference hosted by IPN, he accused the current government of incompetence and inactivity, saying that the time has come for the people to take to the streets and call things by their right names.
Sergei Ciobanu suggested that the government should stand before the people, admit the mistakes and think about the necessary measures to solve the problems faced by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. He noted that the government tries to divide the people by their political preferences, stressing that he considers himself a citizen of the Republic of Moldova. “We must live in peace. We must live in wellbeing,” he stated.
“Dear citizens of the Republic of Moldova – Russians, Gagauzians, Belarusians, Moldovans, Romanians - do not give in to provocations. We must unite to resist because we have a war that is not ours close to us. We, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, must ask our government, our leadership to fulfill their promises,” said Sergei Ciobanu.
The representative of civil society stressed that in Moldova the examination of cases is delayed and the citizens are forced to go abroad to earn a living, being thus separated them from their family. Moldovan migrants who settled in different countries ask the Government of the Republic of Moldova and civil society to pay attention to the problems that become more and more serious because they are not addressed and solved at state level. “Let’s see what we have to do, how we can move forward, how we can overcome the given problems,” stated Sergei Ciobanu.
He called on civil society to join the protest that will be staged in the central square of Chisinau on September 11, starting at 10:00 a.m.
