Leaders of civil society organizations ask the parliamentary political parties to show flexibility, transparency and clear-sightedness in the decisions and essence of the post-electoral negotiations. In debates held in the conference hall of Info-Prim Neo Agency on Monday, NGO leaders said the post-electoral behavior of the politicians worsens the state of uncertainty in society and fuels concerns about the chances of forming a government coalition able to promote the principles and values for which most of the people voted in the last elections. “We call on them to realize that we are in the year 2010 and that our voters are conscious and able to analyze the often contest-less statements that do not provide explanations,” said Catinca Mardarovici, the head of the NGO “Women’s Political Club - 50/50”. Petru Macovei, chairman of the Independent Press Association, said the political players should fulfill their pre-electoral promises and accept civil society as a group of organizations that represents the people and promotes their interests. “After the elections, the politicians forgot about the promises they made. It seems that they focus more on the distribution of posts rather than on principles and values. We insist that the reforms and the efforts on the path to European integration be continued, no matter what kind of alliance is formed,” Petru Macovei said. Petru Culeac, researcher with the University of Vienna, believes the talks opened by the parties that entered Parliament two weeks ago should not center on the distribution of power. “We hope the politicians realize that they will seriously weaken their positions if they go against the people’s will,” he stated. The leaders of the parliamentary parties - PCRM, PLDM, PDM and PL - had a series of bilateral and trilateral meetings, but have not yet agreed on the formation of a government coalition.
