Civil society dissatisfied with lack of transparency in coalition negotiations

Civil society is dissatisfied with how the coalition formation is being negotiated because the public has been left out of the process so far, which raises concerns that the politicians involved in the negotiations might have something to hide.

“Last Thursday over one hundred civil society organizations called for transparency in the negotiation process, which implies periodical information of the public about the progress of the negotiations. Five days have passed, the negotiations must be in their final stage now, yet we haven't heard any credible information so far on what is being discussed and how”, Vladislav Gribincea, chairman of the NGO Center for Legal Resources, told a news conference on Tuesday.

While admitting that it's something normal for such negotiations to be privy, the lawyer insisted the public must be periodically informed about the preliminary results. “This hasn't happened and it indicates a defect of the current government. Surprisingly or not, there were such information efforts during the previous negotiations, unlike now when these are completely lacking. I think it's either a mistake of their communication advisers, or the three negotiating parties gave something to hide from us. Either variant is unacceptable”, said Vladislav Gribincea.
