Civil Society Congress seeks Government’s dismissal and dissolution of Parliament

The Civil Society Congress demands that the Government be dismissed, the Parliament be dissolved and early elections be called, Info-Prim Neo reports. Chairman of the Congress Fiodor Ghelici told a news conference on September 15 that the administration turned out to be inefficient and irresponsible. It is mainly concerned with its own interests and is indifferent to the fate of the Moldovan people. Therefore, civil society has the right to demand the Government’s dismissal. “We saw what the present administration can do. No results have been achieved during two years. We, the voters, elected them and we will dismiss them. They should not scare us that early elections would be a catastrophe for the national economy. The early elections would only empty politicians’ pockets as they will have to spend large sums of money on campaigning,” said Fiodor Ghelici. According to him, the civil society’s demand was also determined by the raider attacks on banks. “Every day we see that our authorities cannot share the piece of cake called Moldova. The issue of bank appropriation that is widely discussed by the politicians lately is a political challenge. Today the government speaks about the raider attacks, but no shareholder, no person from the bank’s administration or employee went out to protest. Nobody went on hunger strike,” said Fiodor Ghelici. He also said that he personally tried to discuss the subject with a bank manager, whom he asked about the raider attacks, but he avoided answering, asking not to be involved in politics. “I don’t understand this attitude. Does this mean that this situation does not bother them?” he asked. Other representatives of the Civil Society Congress attending the news conference said the authorities are looking for instruments of political manipulation in all the areas of activity. Igor Caldare, former director of the Institute of Standardization and Metrology, considers the raider attacks on the banks represent a rehearsal for the appropriation of resources of such foreign donors as the World Bank and the EBRD. According to the representatives of the Congress, another reason for the demand to dismiss the Government is the fact that the Acting President and the Prosecutor General’s Office did not react to the letter signed by several participants in the April 7, 2009 protests, who said they are ready to provide information about the organizers of the protests and how they were instructed by them.
