Civil society and Social Protection Ministry join efforts to support disabled young people

Children and young persons with mental disabilities will benefit from a number of social assistance services within a new project launched by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family in partnership with the association Keystone Human Services International Moldova on February 1, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Inclusive Community – Moldova – Financial Support in the Period of the World Economic Crisis Project is aimed at supporting the reform of the system for socially protecting the persons suffering from mental disabilities. The joint efforts of the Ministry and civil society are expected to yield important results, said Minister Valentina Buliga The official also said that the project aims to support the development of community social assistance services in order to ensure the inclusion of children from the Orhei-based home for children with mental disabilities in the family and community and to prevent new cases of institutionalization. Within the project, there will be developed new services, including three community houses, nine protected dwellings, nine mobile teams, 26 professional parent assistance services and others, said project director Ludmila Malcoci. Ninety families will benefit from support in laying out the rooms of the young people who are being reintegrated into the biological or extended family. The project to the value of over US$2 million will last for three years. It is implemented with financial support from Soros Foundation - Moldova within the Emergency Fund.
