Civil society and mass media request more firmness in refining the judiciary
A group of leaders of the civil society and mass media request Parliament and Government to clear the judiciary of those magistrates that constantly break the law and professional ethics. They say events related to the case of Ion Muruianu, president of the Supreme Justice Court, have shown the essence of a rotten and retrograde system which controls the justice and impends the judiciary reform and Moldova’s European integration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Without such measures, the whole society will be kept hostage by a corrupted regime and all of current government’s efforts regarding Moldova’s modernization and democratization will be in vain” , according to their declaration.
“The behavior of some magistrates is proven daily through documents which attest infringements of professional ethics and hook-up with the former communist regime. The best known case of clan interests’ triumph over the public one is that of Ion Muruianu, president of the Supreme Justice Court, who is being protected by SJC loyal judges and Magistrates’ Superior Council” , the authors of the declaration say.
The civil society and mass media label the Muruianu case a precedent with severe moral and political consequences.
