Civil servants ignoring citizens’ petitions and letters to be penalised – Mayor

Vasile Ursu, the interim mayor of Chisinau warned the public servants they will be penalised if will continue to ignore the terms and the execution of letters and petitions coming from the inhabitants of Chisinau. At the same time, the civil servants will be obliged to give explanations to the Mail and Petitions Department about the reasons related to the delays of the answers and formal answers, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ursu stated at the session of the City Hall that he will not tolerate anymore this “disease of the public servants”, who use trite answers, do not react immediately and do not solve the problems of the citizens, delay answers, which are usually formal, promise the petitioners they will solve latter their problems, but never do, obliging the citizens to write new petitions on the same issue. The Communal Department, Architecture and Urbanism Department, Construction discipline and authorization Department were the most criticized at the meeting. Recently, the office of the Presidency informed the City Hall about 44 petitions that had not been solved and the prosecutor of the municipality of Chisinau asked sanctions for the civil servants who ignored these petitions. Ursu was unpleased with “the inappropriate discipline” in this respect within several departments and promised sanctions. 10 thousand letters and petitions were submitted to the City Hall this year.
