Civil, criminal court proceedings suspended during state of emergency

Civil and criminal court proceedings, as well as other criminal procedures, are suspended for the duration of the current state of emergency, unless such proceedings may seriously affect public interest or cause irremediable consequences if postponed. This was decided by the Commission for Emergencies and announced by Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco.

Litvinenco told a press conference that the massive flow of migrants is affecting the national administration system. “Moldova, like other countries, has not been prepared to deal with such a humanitarian disaster, which is why various risks are involved which need to be administered on the basis of special measures”.

The new rules also impose procedure restrictions on cases related to the state of emergency.

Additionally, the measure suspends judicial enforcement proceedings.
