Civil Aviation Authority returns under Transport Ministry’s management

The Civil Aviation Authority will be again managed by the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure. A bill to amend and supplement the Law on Civil Aviation was recently approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.

Since 2013, the Authority has been managed by the Government. Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Iurie Chirinciuc said two years of experience showed that constructive relations are impossible when the Authority and the Ministry act as separate entities, especially in implementing the Common Airspace Agreement signed by the EU and Moldova.

Under this agreement, Moldova is to transpose over 70 European regulations on civil aviation to the national legislations.

“The return of the Civil Aviation Authority under the Ministry’s management will enable to utilize all the existing capacities so as to promote relevant draft laws and decisions and to fulfill the commitments undertaken by Moldova through the Common Airspace Agreement,” said the minister.
