Civil Aviation Authority involved in new scandal

Moldova’s Civil Aviation Authority (ASAC) has found itself embroiled in a new international scandal, after it had been involved in a conflict with Ukraine’s aviation authorities over flights across the Ukrainian space. This time ASAC is in conflict with an Italy-registered company, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to sources within ASAC, during one week the Italy-registered AlpiEagles S.p.A. Airline violated twice the rules on charter flights. Earlier, ASAC refused to issue permission for charter flights to the given company on the grounds that it “presented false data”. ASAC has informed the Italian aviation authorities about this case. The cited sources say that on April 3, for the second time during the last week, without any permission, an aircraft belonging to the Italian airline took off from Venetia to Chisinau. One hundred Moldovan citizens, who were returning home for Easter holidays, were on board the plane. ASAC claims that “in deference to the Moldovan citizens”, it did not return the aircraft to Italy, allowing it to land on Chisinau International Airport. At the same time, ASAC is ready to undertake all the necessary measures to inform, by means of diplomatic channels, the Italian aviation authorities about the illegal actions of the Italian Company AlpiEagles S.p.A. ASAC also informed the law enforcement bodies about this case.
