Members and supporters of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” intend to mount a protest in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau on May 3. Members of the initiative group told a news conference that the demands made public in the similar April 5 protest weren’t satisfied by the authorities and there is now no other way out than taking to the streets, IPN reports.
Angela Arama, a member of the initiative group, said in the May 3 protest the platform will demand returning the 1 billion euros stolen by those who are in power, dismissing the administration of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center, the Customs Service, the Competition Council and the Supreme Court of Justice, truly reforming the law enforcement bodies and stopping exerting pressure on the media outlets with the intention of closing the stations that are not loyal to the power.
Another member of the initiative group Igor Botan said that by the May 3 protest the platform aims to provoke the whole country into protesting against the wrongdoings.
The April 5 protest involved several hundred people, who demanded continuing on the path of European integration and doing the reforms specified in the informative notes transmitted by the development partners.
The protest on May 3 starts in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral at 1pm.
